St John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is a perennial plant native to many parts of the world, including European countries and the USA. It prefers sunny areas and has numerous bright yellow flowers.

It has been a popular herb on the continent for centuries and, in Germany alone, millions of supplements are sold every year. The key constituent to have received most attention is Hypericin, and it is therefore this substance that is used as the standardisation market in Lamberts extract.
